*Note there's some slight PG13 stuff in this Exerpt, be mature*
BTW this exerpt looks better in Microsoft Word
I was a little bored, and well, I can't wait to show this so I'm going to place this on both my forums and Marriland's. This is a seven page excerpt from a story I'm writing, in this part Jobu has climbed a mountain and went into a "training battle" with the Psy-tokaryu, it's a meditation challange, the exerpt begins at the end of the battle and ends when Haya has seen death in the eyes. This exerpt is in the beginning of the story, so it's a little sketchy, now my story is a little better, a little more talking, but I don't take short *zoom* you're at the place now, kinda stuff. This is within the first 30 pages, and the tension has already risen, but it'll come down and then rise again also known as a double-peek story. Here's the exerpt:
“I won’t let you cheat your way out of this one!” the sound of steal going through slimy, scaly skin filled the arena. Jobu watched the giant pile of meat, crumple, the weight of the power the Psy-tokaryu had gained, started to take the negative and crush itself, it could not get up, it could not hold, heal, or stop it’s wound. Bones start shattering, each one sounding like trees breaking from a violent windstorm. It’s eyes had begun filling with blood, so much, that it’s amber eyes turned from their bright yellow, to deep red, after watching the horror that could’ve befallen Jobu, he was surrounded by blackness again.
“No! Don’t master!” Voices started ringing through Jobu’s head again.
“I won’t tolerate this! This ‘Jobu’ shall not get anywhere near me! A CURSE BE SET APON HIM!” Jobu looked at himself, wondering what this curse does.
“Master! It’s too harsh!”
“Harsh my tail! From now on, this Jobu shall have a full moon curse, to make sure that evil is within him, and to keep him from stopping us!”
The blackness disappeared and Jobu was on top of the mountain again, his friends were just sitting there, awaiting Jobu’s arrival, the group went to Jobu and hugged him hoping he was ok, he sulked knowing that he had to tell Kyoko the bad news.
“Is there something wrong?” Kyoko put her hand on his shoulder, and Trikicat rubbed against his legs.
“Yeah…” Jobu said in utter despair. Before anyone of the group asked, Jobu answered, “I’ve been cursed by something because I defeated that Tokaryu thing, and now I can’t look at the full moon anymore…”
“Yuck, those Tokaryus are strict, aren’t they Kyoko?” Kyoko nods, and then Lance tries to cheer him up, “Look on the bright side, at least you can get rid of your enemies.”
Kyoko growled, knowing that it didn’t help, “We’ll think of something to help, I’m sure we will.”
Jobu went to his house, his mom was home, and was caught, “I haven’t seen you all day! Where have you been?” Jobu backed against the wall, hiding his tail, “Here and there, I was…” Jobu quickly thought of his favorite place, “at the arcade,”
“Well, as long as you weren’t with those goons.”
“What goons?” Jobu wondered.
“Go do your chores, Jobu”
“Fine…” Jobu grumbled.
The doorbell had rung; his mom didn’t seem to hear it though. It rang three more times before his mom answered it, “[Removed]o I’m Haya, and I’m going to be the new teacher in Jobu’s class,” Jobu looked through the kitchen window to the living room, at the moment he was doing dishes, and could see this girl almost exactly like Kyoko, the only differences were her hair, “fur pattern”, and obviously her clothes.”
“Really? I’ve never heard of a new teacher coming into the district, who are you replacing?” Apparently Jobu’s mom had some questions about this person as well.
“I’m replacing the science teacher,” –Jobu exclaimed, “YES!” in a whisper-, “She had a trauma of all the kids harassing her, after school, and she had a bungee-jumping accident.”
“How terrible!” Jobu’s mom was surprised about this development, she wasn’t the only one, Jobu was both surprised and confused about this predicament.
“May I stay here for a while? That is, until I get a house for myself.”
“When would that be?”
“I don’t know at the moment, I’m guessing a month at the earliest.”
“That’s fine with me, you can have the guest room, it’s next to my son’s”
“Thanks, Missus,” Haya walked upstairs to unpack.
Jobu finished doing the dishes, and forgot about his mom being around for a second, “Now—AIYE!” Jobu’s mother had fainted, she had seen his tail, Jobu didn’t mind, but needed to sneak into the basement, since he knew this Haya was going to see what happened.
Jobu jumped to the portal, but was pulled back, “What the?” he looked to see what happened.
“Thought you were gonna escape huh?” It was the new “teacher”.
“What do you mean escape? I was trying to get away from mom before she pulverized me!” he lied.
“Do you take me for a fool? I know who you are and I know everything about what you’ve done in Sekairyu.”
“What? You know about Sekairyu?” Jobu exclaimed.
“That’s right, Jobu Tora…”
Jobu growled, knowing that if she knows about his curse, she’ll try to exploit it and try to destroy the world with it, “Let me go!”
“No! I won’t let you escape to there again!” Suddenly, Haya is blasted back into the wall; it was the same force from when the bullies attacked him, “That power… It can’t be…” Haya went out cold, and Jobu rushed into the portal.
Jobu ran into Kyoko by mistake, knocking off her robes, she was trying to get some people’s spirits up without letting them know she was a Shippito, “Thanks a lot Jobu!”
“I’m sorry, Kyoko, but there’s a problem, there’s this look-alike run--.”
Kyoko finished his sentence, “running around your town and she’s camped in your house.”
“Exactly! How did you know?” Jobu was curiously surprised.
“We see each other spiritually, she’s a clone of me… Have you heard of the Yuoyas?”
“Yeah, they were the main part of the war some time ago.”
“Well, they took some of my DNA, and created a clone of me, --“
“But she looks nothing like you, Kyoko!”
“I was getting there,” She was a little mad about Jobu butting in, “as I was saying, they created a clone of me, but they spliced my DNA with a mythical island guardian’s DNA, so she looks like a Shippito, but the easy way to tell is her leaf-blades on her forearms, no real Shippito has that, also, watch out from now on what you do and say here, because she uses me as a spy, because we have this one telekinetic link from having the same Brainwave gene. I almost forgot, watch out for her temper and psychic attacks, if she loses her temper she threatens you with her leaf-blades, and she’ll try to pin you or something with her psychic attacks.”
“There’s a problem! She knows of my curse I just got!” Jobu said seeming to disregard everything she just said.
“That’s not good… She’s waking up! Go back! Make it seem like you didn’t go through the portal!”
Jobu was a bit confused, but went through the portal anyways.
Haya was getting up, having a headache from the blast, she forgot about Jobu being the savior, but not about his curse, she was confused about how he got it, because she forgot the savior part.
“I… I…” She got up dizzily, “I’ll get you later.” She walked up the stairs almost falling over a couple times, and then she was gone from sight.
The morning was the same, except for the fact that Jobu’s mom knew about Jobu’s tail then, she was a little shaky still, and she mentioned that Haya already went to school. Jobu finished his breakfast, it was only Tuesday and the horror seemed like would never end, Jobu knew by now that Sekairyu and Earth time were exactly the same, and there was no way to go on an adventure unless he knew how long it would take and to get a fake pass.
Science class was oddly normal, Haya was teaching, but she never once mentioned anything about Jobu, after the class bell rang, Jobu had the strangest feeling he was being followed, all day. School ended, Jobu walked home still feeling the like he was being followed. He unlocked, then opened the door to his house, then walked into the living room and flopped onto the couch, his mom was at work, and he knew Haya was going to be home soon. He went downstairs, still getting the following feeling, and went through the portal. Kyoko wasn’t waiting for Jobu this time, this time Jobu had to look around for her.
“Kyoko!” Jobu yelled, trying to get Kyoko’s attention.
“PSST!”
“Huh?”
“Get down here!” It definitely wasn’t Kyoko, the person dragged Jobu to the under-streets.
“YIPE! YOU’RE HAYA!” Jobu tried to climb back up and into the streets, but was pulled back down.
“I’m not this Haya! My name doesn’t even start with an H,” she comforted Jobu by telling him she wasn’t Haya.
“Then who are you?”
“I’m Iva, at your service,” She bowed
“You’re a servant?”
“No, no, no,” Iva explained, “I’m here to help, I’m not here to be a servant,” Iva motioned Jobu to follow, “Follow me, I know where Kyoko is,” Jobu followed willingly
Haya had entered Sekairyu because of the string she had tied onto both her and Jobu, she cut the string and walked around a bit, “So this is the famous Sekairyu, huh?” She asked a vendor the name of the town, which was obviously Nahrajia. She left the town and started looking for either Jobu or Kyoko; Lance was of no concern to her.
Iva tread the underground paths quickly, which made it harder for him to follow her, “When are we getting there? I’m starting to lose track of you.”
“We’re almost there,” she announced. She took a leap over some running water and crawled into a hole, Jobu did the same, but almost lost Iva again, luckily it was the end of their route.
There was light at the end of the tunnel, eureka, it was a giant library, Kyoko and Lance were in the lounge chairs. Iva’s identity was revealed, she was white with black stripes, she had the cat-like face, but her nose still had the human shape. Black hair, and shining blue eyes, Iva looked really good, she was about Jobu’s age in human years too.
“You can do anything you want until we plan out what we’re going to do, Jobu,” Iva said.
“Why can’t I listen, Iva? You know I’m apart of this group too.”
“Yes I know, but this concerns us Shippitos, not you just yet.”
Jobu frowned, and listened to part of their planning, which, to Jobu, wasn’t entertaining enough, so he walked over to the shelves and picked up a book. It was a book about the history of the Tokaryus.
Long ago, before Sekairyu was born, there were seven elemental dragons of a race far more powerful than Sekairyu’s sister, the Earth. Sekairyu was built with the balance of good and evil, weak and powerful. The power of this balance was the kyogarakyu crystal; the perfect round edge symbolized the true balance of nature, time and personalities. Near the beginning of the katatai era an evil had arisen, it had plotted to destroy the crystal to release the evil to create an army. There was a picture of the evil person in the book, the person looked similar to Haya. The evil did succeed in destroying the crystal. But not long after, the savior had entered our world and was ready to fight with his sword. Jobu remembered his sword, but he had left it hidden. There was also a picture of the savior; it didn’t look exactly like him, though.
“When will this evil reign end?” The people had said in their minds. The legendary sword had the power to defeat the evil, it was never seen again. Soon after, the Tokaryus had gathered for a meeting. They agreed that if this had happened again, that they would test the new savior to see if he was the right person.
“Well…” Jobu remembered he hadn’t seen Trikicat. He looked around and saw him under a chair, “Let’s see…” Jobu looked through the book on curses.
“Come on Jobu, you better be going,” the familiar voice of Kyoko rang through the room.
“It’s morning already?” Jobu exclaimed.
“The crystal is broken, and as you can tell after you read that book, time was balanced with the crystal. When you come back you can spend one week to one month here without Earth finishing its day yet,” Kyoko explained.
“Ok… Oh, what type of night will it be?”
“Well it’s easy to tell now… It’s a full moon tonight.” She proclaimed.
“And I can’t stay… Wait a minute! It’s probably still night at home!”
“True Jobu,” Lance stood up, “But you need to sleep at home for once, you don’t want your mom stinking out.”
“How’d you know my mom was back from her business trip?”
“I told him Jobu,” Kyoko admitted.
Jobu shook his head, “Forget it, I need to be going before Ms. Nosey tries to catch me again,” Jobu looked at Iva, “Can I take her along?”
“NO!” Kyoko shouted, “If people discover Shippitos, they’ll hold her captive! Sekairyu and Earth’s Dimensions will collide and all will be lost!”
“I was just asking…” Jobu left the room. Out the tunnel, through the underground paths, and out onto the city streets, Jobu saw a holo-board for sale. Jobu had enough money to buy it. He bought the holo-board for very cheap; it even came with a couple Shippito and monster packs. He opened the Shippito package first, and the next thing he knew, he saw Haya, both on the card and walking back to the portal!
“I’ll search for him later! That stupid, insignificant little runt!” Haya grumbled as she went through the portal.
“What the?” Jobu put the card on the holo-board, and displayed the info of Haya. Haya: A Shippito clone created by the evils of Earth, this clone is a clone of Kyoko Silvers. Stats: Attack 127 out of 578, Defense 95 out of 467. Jobu guessed the max stats were of the strongest cards. Weakness: Water. Despite her pure anger towards something, the one weakness is water, she will completely worry about getting wet more than what she hates. Jobu packed everything away in his backpack, which he entirely forgot taking off. He went through the portal and sneaked upstairs into his room.
“Finally, you little –“
“Haya!” Jobu cut her off, “What are you doing in my room?”
“Two reasons squirt, your curse, and I can come in here as much as I want because I’m temporarily living here.”
“I knew you were just after my curse!” Jobu affirmed.
Haya leered, “Say [Removed]o to the night life my little havoc maker.”
Jobu closed his eyes, “No! You won’t make me!” Jobu held onto the doorframe.
“Yes I will!” Haya sc[Removed]d her leaf-blade on Jobu’s arm, making him let go. She took Jobu by the tail and flung him into the wall. Jobu blacked out; the last he saw was Haya creeping up on him looking as if she were about to strangle him.
Jobu opened his eyes at the ground, “About time,” came the annoyed voice of Haya, “Look up at me you brat.”
“No…” Jobu kept staring at the ground, he could now tell he was tied up.
“Do what I say!” Haya slapped him, “Listen to me, or would you like everyone to know your real name?”
“Do you think insults will get me to look?” Jobu was still irritated.
“Look now -Akira-!” Jobu thought of everyone laughing at his real name, it sounded like a girl’s. Jobu looked up and glared at her, he knew the moon was there behind her. Jobu had begun his transformation to the evil creature he was cursed to change into.
The sound of ripping flesh, and grinding bones seemed to echo, Jobu screamed as the pain started to overwhelm him, and the words of the “Master” ran through his mind repeatedly, “From now on, this Jobu shall have a full moon curse, to make sure that evil is within him, and to keep him from stopping us!” Haya stepped back seeing the anger in this evil being’s face. The beast towered over her, the cold glare of Jobu’s eyes struck fear in Haya’s heart, breaking the seemingly unbreakable barrier between tranquil and fright. The beastly form ran towards Haya and stuck her down, Haya lay on the ground astonished, and still alarmed.
The beast tried striking repetitively again, but instead it continued to hit the leaf-blades, which did no damage to Haya every time. Haya played dead which forced the evil beast to try and kill others.
“What have I done? I had no idea that this would give him this immense power!” Haya stood up and watched the manslaughter that the beast created, each person dying with a horrible scream that pierced the night. Haya watched the manslaughter, still afraid that the beast could have just as easily killed her, yet her relentlessness made her continue watching, as her plan had succeeded; the pain of knowing she was that close to death, staring it in the eyes was still unbearable.
Hope you like it, leave any and all comments in the replies, no flaming, because my story isn't finished yet, and I still can change it, plus it's great to know if I need any fixes. Watch out for this story because I'm making it a doozy. Plus I'm gonna make a second part which deals with after this story.
